No Two Adventures Generated By This Activity Will Ever Be The Same! (Though Some May Be More Exciting Than Others…)

If someone had told me that a project like this would have been possible to build only 12 months ago I would have laughed and told them they were dreaming…

Yet here we are! The rate of progress in the field of generative AI technology has been incredible to witness, and for me as a Digital Solutions Developer who just loves to build cool stuff, learning everything I can about how the latest APIs work has provided immense job satisfaction over the past few weeks.

This was the first project which combines everything I have learned about ChatGPT and Dall-E 2 APIs into the same project. A number of trigger events in Storyline connect events taking place within each API together to ultimately create the illustrated story shown on screen to the user.

There is also a huge amount of prompt engineering that took place to ensure that consistent results were achieved in the way that ChatGPT feeds useful and structured data back into JavaScript in Storyline, but still GPT 3.5 isn’t perfect so not all possibilities can ever be accounted for. Unfortunately this does mean that on occasion the response received will result in an error.

In this case I’ve taken the easy way out and simply created an error slide in Storyline to reset the activity, but with more time it would certainly be possible to re-cycle through events in the code until the right response was achieved.

I was extremely happy to see AI be given its own dedicated Articulate E-Learning Heroes Challenge segment for this week, so that I could make this project available for other people to play for the first time.

This project is no longer available to play live on our website – We are keeping an eye on our current OpenAI spending for this and future projects, and therefore have made the decision to remove this activity from the website.
